The Story of Gog and Magog
The Prophet once woke up startled and went to his wife, Zaynab bint Jahsh, saying, "There is no god but Allah. Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has approached. Today a hole in the barrier of Gog and Magog has been opened like this." He made a circle with his thumb and the ring finger. Zaynab said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be destroyed even though there are righteous people among us?" He replied, "Yes, if evil increases!!"
Who are Gog and Magog?! When will they emerge?! What is the story of their emergence and the crimes they will commit?! How will their end be?! And before that, what is the story of the dam?! Dhul-Qarnayn and the Building of the Dam:
And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, "I will recite to you a report about him."
Dhul-Qarnayn was one of the most powerful kings of the world. God gave him the kingdom and gave him a reason for everything. He gave him all the elements that would enable him to rule the entire world. He ruled the world from east to west. So he took his army and headed west, the place where the sun sets. “And he found therein a people who did not worship Allah. So Dhul-Qarnayn began to call them to believe in Allah with the best faith, and they believed in him. Then after that, he turned toward the east (the place from which the sun rises) and found a people living in the sun without any shelter. So he began to erect for them what would shelter them from the sun, so he built for them dwellings and buildings.
Then after that, he turned toward the north (between the two dams) and found a people who did not understand speech, living between two dams. And there was A corrupt people called Gog and Magog attack the people of this country, killing them, stealing their money, and destroying their property. These people asked Dhul-Qarnayn to build a strong dam to separate them from Gog and Magog. He actually responded to them and built a dam of iron and melted it, and lit a fire underneath it. Then he poured copper over it, so this dam became strong and Gog and Magog could not dig through it or… They climb it despite their immense strength.
Gog and Magog:
Gog and Magog, as described by the Prophet, are two nations of humankind, descendants of Japheth, son of Noah. They are a corrupt, savage, nomadic people with a leader who manages their affairs. They are muscular and fiercely powerful. As the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, mentioned, since Dhul-Qarnayn besieged them, they have been gathering every day to dig in this dam. After they have dug a large part, they say, Tomorrow we will come to complete what we have excavated, and then they will come the next day and find that what they have excavated has returned to how it was. They will remain like this until God permits their emergence.
The emergence of Gog and Magog:
The emergence of Gog and Magog is one of the major signs of the Last Hour. In Sahih Muslim, in a hadith on the authority of An-Nawwas ibn Sam'an, it says:
When God permits the emergence of Gog and Magog, they will excavate a great burrow in The dam, then their leader says, “Tomorrow, God willing, we will complete the tunneling of the dam.” So God permits their exit, based on the words of their leader, “God willing.” So they emerge, as in the hadith, from every slope and direction, and they spread corruption on earth, drinking up all the water, until the first of them drinks up the entire Sea of Galilee. Then they continue their advance, eating everything they encounter, from people, animals, and trees, and they find nothing green or dry that they do not destroy, and the people are terrified. They will hide from them, and their wickedness and disbelief will increase, and they will say, "We killed the people of the Earth, so let us kill the people of the Heavens." One of them will aim his spear at the Heavens, and God will return it stained with blood as a trial for them. Their arrogance will increase, and they will say, "We killed the people of the Earth and have risen above the people of the Heavens."
The time of their emergence and their end!!!!!
As mentioned in the previous hadith, they will emerge after the descent of Jesus, peace be upon him, and the appearance of the Antichrist. After Jesus descends and leads the Muslims to fight the Messiah and kill him, God will command Jesus to go with the Muslims who are with him far away from Gog and Magog and to take refuge in the Mount Tur region. Then God will permit the elimination of Gog and Magog, and He will send upon them “the Naghaaf,” and the Naghaaf is a worm that emerges from their noses and behind their backs. Their heads will be cut off, and they will all be killed. The earth will be filled with their rot, stench, and flesh. Then Allah will send birds upon them to eat their flesh. Then, after that, Allah will send rain, which will wash the earth, and the earth will return to being better than it was before. People will live the best life after the appearance of Gog and Magog, as it is mentioned in the hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wished to live during that time...
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says in the noble hadith:
"Blessed are the ones who are like ... To live after Christ, he will give permission to the sky to rain and to the earth to grow, so that if you sow your seed on a smooth rock, it will grow, and so that a man may pass over a lion and it will not harm him, and he may step on a snake and it will not harm him, and there will be no jealousy, envy, or hatred.
